Tabassum + Mohaiemen on Diller + Scofidio
Saturday, September 17, 2022, 6:30 pm, Dia Chelsea

In 1998, Diller + Scofidio created an Artist Web Project for Dia centered around a dozen live office webcams from around the world. For each location they fabricated a narrative to create an investigation which reflects on the effects of live video on everyday life.

In response to the original project, Naeem Mohaiemen inverted the number, time span, and geography–from twelve offices to one (Marina Tabassum Architects), from one year to one day, and from western cities to a two-room Dhaka office. The apple bomb icon from 1998 has been replaced by the spinning color wheel–certain signifiers are quixotically off-limits, dooming roadrunner cartoons. Waiting for time to pass is the universal constant.

The project will be accompanied by a conversation between Naeem Mohaiemen and Marina Tabassum.
